The size of BACKER ROD should be slightly larger (about ½”) than the width of the crack it’s being used in. Cleaning and/or routing may be necessary before installation. To install, simply force the BACKER ROD into the crack or joint, cutting to desired length with knife or scissors. Proper position of BACKER ROD in crack is about ½” to ¾” below surface. Then, use NU FLOOR FLEX-JOINT (for concrete) or POURABLE CRACK FILLER (for asphalt) over the BACKER ROD to complete the repair.
